Post 1: The Jungle

My neighbourhood is called Lawrence Heights, and I’ve lived in it my whole life. It’s very well-connected, as it has a health centre, a community centre, a public housing office, all levels of schooling (elementary, middle, AND high school), as well as a nice shopping mall that recently was renovated! There’s a Fortinos for groceries, a Marshall’s for clothing, phone and internet stores, self-care stores (salons), a gym, and a major bank. Plenty of places for enjoyment and job opportunities.

On my walk, I observed multiple places people gather and enjoy themselves. There’s multiple parks, including 2 water parks and multiple jungle gyms, there’s fields for sports such as football and track, there’s bike lanes on the streets, and plenty of open spaces under tall trees to rest and picnic. I enjoy the connected nature of my neighbourhood and that I could really enjoy a fulfilling life within just my neighbourhood. There’s a connected transit that can take me to other places outside of my neighbourhood and within it.
